Obituary for Steve Binikos

Steve V. Binikos, 67, of Melbourne, Florida passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 following a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Martha (Retfalvi) Binikos; daughters Christine Binikos and MaryAnn Binikos, Carolyn (daughter) and Alan Williams, grandson Matthew; Martha (daughter) and Max Nieves, grandson Anthony; his sister Helen (Binikos) Mathioudakis and brother George Binikos.

Steve was born in Athens, Greece on January 10, 1950. He left Greece and immigrated to New York at the age of 23. He married on August 31, 1975 and raised 4 beautiful daughters. He was disciplined and learned English as well as put himself to school in the evenings to gain certifications in the automotive industry. He worked tirelessly as a mechanic and his perseverance paid off in achieving the goal of becoming a business owner.

Steve was good at anything he put his mind too. If something did not come naturally to him, he worked at it until he became skilled. He had a love for many things: cars, cards, bowling and golf. He was on at least one bowling league if not more throughout his life. He discovered golf later in his life and quickly it became his sport of choice. In 2004, he sold his business and moved Florida. He then had the opportunity to build his own home. He worked for the Brevard County Sheriff’s department and was a member of the Baytree National Golf Links.

Even in retirement, Steve liked to keep busy. When he wasn’t golfing, he could be found working on his lawn or patio. He and his wife would take trips to Hollywood to visit the casino. Florida seemed to suit him to well. He enjoyed relaxing on the patio in the evening and looking at the view of the lake. Steve loved his wife, children and grandsons and looked forward to spending time with them.

A memorial gathering will be held at Beach Funeral Homes - West on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 3-4pm with a service to begin at 4pm.
