Obituary for William "Bill" Kokotis


William “Bill” Kokotis, age 77, of Indialantic, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017. He is survived by his wife Anna, daughters Antonia de Waal and Anastasia Kokotis; grandchildren Nathan and Nicholas; sister Olga Kourtis, and brother Gus Kokotis; nieces and nephews Kathryn, Greg, George, Stathis and Christina; and great nieces and nephews Jennifer, Kimberly, Ryan, Kendall, Chase, Nicko and Joshua. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Anastasia Kokotis; his brother Andrew, and sister Frances.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church 5965 N. Wickham Rd. Melbourne, FL, with Rev. Fr. Demetri Tsigas officiating. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge, FL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Beach Funeral Home 1689 S. Patrick Dr. Indian Harbor Beach, FL from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Trisagion service at 6:30 p.m.

Bill graduated from Washington High School in East Chicago, IN. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Purdue University (1965), and his Doctorate of Philosophy in Biochemistry from University of Maryland (1971). Bill conducted research at Walter Reed Army Institute in Washington D.C. developing isotopic methods of determining kidney function, and worked as a chemist in Chicago, IL, before heading the Clinical Laboratory at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond, IN. After moving to Florida, Bill and his wife Anna owned and operated the Blueberry Muffin Restaurant in Indialantic. Bill loved to travel with his wife to Boston, New York City, the Caribbean, the Holy Lands, Europe, and China. A kind and light hearted man, Bill’s greatest love was getting to know people.
