Obituary for Patricia Phillips

In loving memory of Patricia "Patsy" Phillips, 86, of Satellite Beach, who passed to her savior on December 29th, 2017.

Patsy originally hailed from the McDonough clan of Dorchester, MA. She attended St. Williams Elementary, St. Patrick's High School and went on to graduate from Boston University. Patsy was later commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, where she met and married Capt. John Phillips of E. Providence, R.I. This was the beginning of a long adventure spanning the next 34 years, where together they traveled the world. During those years she was an active contributor to every community they lived in, working as a school teacher, Director of Kindergarten, a volunteer with various organizations including the Red Cross and, while in Japan...she received an award for her work supporting the Pearl S. Buck Foundation addressing the poverty and discrimination facing children in Asia. Upon returning to Washington, D.C., Patsy became the Assistant CFO of a large security firm.

At home she was a prolific artist, voracious reader, talented cook, and arts and crafts enthusiast. Patsy was best known for her quick wit and universal ability to create lasting and loving relationships. Compassionate to a fault, Patsy was a benevolent heart who regularly gave of herself to numerous organizations, charities and causes. Following her retirement in 1998, she and John relocated to Satellite Beach, whereupon she served in the capacity of "Police Volunteer" for a period of ten years, as well as the "Meals on Wheels" program serving the elderly. She is survived by a son Ian, a daughter Pilar, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and her husband of 61 years, Lt. General John Phillips U.S.M.C. (Ret.)

A Remembrance Mass will be held at St George's South Patrick Chapel, 84 Harrier Ave, Satellite Beach, FL. on Jan 9th at 10:00AM.

She will be interred at the Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA. on Jan 16th at 11:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at Alz.org in her memory.
