Obituary for Sallie Curtin (Hepfner)

Sallie Maureen Curtin of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, born to Robert Hepfner and Virginia (Durst) Hepfner died of pancreatic cancer on Thursday June 21st, 2018.

Sallie was born in Philadelphia, PA, on December 14th, 1956. Her father is a Marine veteran and after moving several times during childhood, the family settled in Beaufort, SC, where Sallie graduated from Sheldon Academy.

After high school, Sallie lived in Columbia, SC, Orlando, FL, and then Palm Bay, FL where she met her husband, Brian Curtin. Sallie and Brian were married in 1991 and have three wonderful children: Alexis, Thomas, and Rachael.

Sallie was a warm and generous woman who loved her family and friends dearly. With her big smile and a positive and caring attitude, she befriended everyone she met. Her joy and strength were infectious, and she never gave up hope in her fight against cancer. She worked passionately at her job designing and drafting architectural and engineering projects for Harris Corporation, Coastal Mechanical Services, and Building Management Services, while always prioritizing her family and the needs of those around her. She loved all animals, especially her beloved dog Vera.

Her latest pursuits included watercolor painting, exercising, volunteering with children and animals and home improvement projects. She loved traveling with her family to many great locations like France, Italy and the UK, and couldn’t get enough of island life in the Florida Keys and Hawaii. She made frequent trips to see family and friends, especially in the Washington, DC and Beaufort, SC areas.

Sallie is survived by her husband Brian and children Alexis, Tommy, and Rachael of IHB; father Bob, and brother Kurt (wife Cherie and children Derek and Emily) of Beaufort; sister Susan Williams (husband Jimmy) of Great Falls, SC; and brother Eric (wife Amber and sons Erin and Evan) of Phoenix, AZ.

Sallie was preceded in death by her mother Ginny.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday June 27th from 5 to 7 pm at Beach Funeral Home in IHB, and a Celebration of Sallie’s Life Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic on Thursday June 28th at 11 am.
