Condolences

Condolence From: Dave and E.D. Dickshinski
Condolence: E.D. and I send our condolences to the entire Zajic family. Hank's dad was always Mr Zajic to me. Hank was my roomate plebe year at the Naval Academy, so I had many opportunities to interact and learn from Mr. Zajic. Because he had been a Marine, there was always some good natured ribbing about the Marines having to bail out the Navy on many occasions. One specific event happened in the Summer of 1980. Hank and I went up to New Hampshire to start a cycling trip to Orono, Maine, where we planned to run in the Paul Bunyon Marathon. We biked and camped the 150 miles to Orono, ran the marathon in 92 degree July heat, and then headed back to New Hampshire on our bikes. We were a little tired by the second day, and knew that Mr. Zajic was in New Hampshire already waiting for our return. At some point we decide to "call in the Marines," and Mr. Zajic agreed to meet us on the road to shorten our trip. Again, the Marine bailing out the Navy! We never heard the end of that! :) Mr. Zajic was not only an engineer at Grumman, he was also an artist. I shared a picture of him giving me a bottle of wine at our graduation in May 1981. On that bottle he etched an F14 aircraft and the Naval Academy emblem, both in intricate detail. He also etched the third verse to Navy Blue and Gold, a poem that captures the essence of time spent at the Academy. He impacted my life by his example as a life long learner, and as a person who sought to improve things he thought were important by sharing his thoughts, ideals, and values throughout his whole life. I enjoyed his home made peach schnapps, a fascinating tour of the F14 factory plant, his unique way of always putting substance over style, and endless dialogues and debates about most anything. Mr. Zajic was one of a kind, and he will be missed.

Condolence From: Don & Diane Gray
Condolence: How do I even begin this message! Jerry was the sweetest soul Both He and Anne received us with open arms especially my dad. Jerry truly had an impact in our lives in the short time we had the privilege of knowing him. My dad enjoyed every minute he was able to spend with jerry and even though we were in Massachusetts Jerry and my dad spoke over the phone many times and it was great to talk to him and get updates of Melbourne. I wish we would have had more time to spend with Jerry he knew so much about our house.
I truly enjoyed listening to his stories. Jerry May you be with your love Anne dancing in the heavens above and looking down knowing you will be missed..God Bless you all
