Ann Mary Agnew passed away on May 27, 2021 surrounded by those who loved her most. To know Ann was to know her passion for her career as a Registered Nurse. After attending the College of Mt. St. Vincent, Ann graduated with her BSN from Cornell University Nursing school in 1970. She then began her career at an American army base in Landstuhl, Germany. After returning from overseas, Ann found her true passion as an ICU nurse at Mercy Hospital in her hometown of Rockville Centre, NY. After years of dedication, long hours, and missed holidays and weekends, she took positions that were more conducive to the most important role in her life, being a Mom to Jay, Chris, and Suzanne. This included working in private practices and also as the beloved high school nurse at Lynbrook High School. Once they graduated, Ann took on a new challenge as a lab instructor at Molloy Nursing College, finally ending her career in Melbourne, Florida at Wuesthoff Progressive Care Center as the patient coordinator, head of orientation for new nurses, and risk management. In retirement she relished her beloved role as Nana to her 4 grandchildren, Logan, Trey, Ty, and Cecelia.
Ann had a green thumb; she loved the beach, reading, long bike rides, and enjoying the paper with her morning coffee on the lanai. Her intelligence, wit and strength was apparent within moments to anyone who met her. Her family and friends could always feel her love for them now matter how many miles were between them. Her overall curiosity and interest in science has been passed on to her beautiful and intelligent grandchildren.
We will miss her smile that lit up any room, the sparkle in her beautiful green eyes, and her genuine heart that could engage any stranger who crossed her path.
Rest easy now. We love you immensely.
