Obituary of Wallace C. Reed

Wallace "Wally" Carper Reed passed away in the early hours of Sunday, November 8, 2009 after a short illness. Wally was born in Ashland, Kentucky on January 17, 1933 to George and Margaret Reed. He graduated from Raceland High School in Raceland, Kentucky and attended Marshall University, where he was a member of the football team. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After serving his country he returned to Ashland where he worked at the Federal Correctional Institution. He and his family moved to Satellite Beach in 1973 where he resided until his death. After moving to Florida he worked in car sales until his retirement. Wally was a Christian of the Baptist faith and enjoyed reading and discussing the bible. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan, enjoyed telling a good joke and spending time with his family. Wally is survived by his wife of 54 years, JoAnn Reed; his son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Jan, their children, Maci and Grady; daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Ronnie Rome, and their children, Adam and Ryan, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Ray Litteral; cousin and dear friend, Bill Cox; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. A gathering will be held at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2009, funeral service to begin at 5 p.m. in the chapel.
