Obituary of James A. Rohrer
James A., "Smokey" Rohrer, Jr., 66, a native of Springfield, MO, died peacefully at home Monday, March 29, 2010. After graduating from St. Agnes Catholic High School in Springfield, MO, Jim served in the US Navy. In 1968, he joined the US Army and became a scouter pilot in Vietnam. He received many medals and commendations including The Purple Heart. After working with Southcom at Ft. Rucker, AL., he came to Patrick Air Force Base, FL. Here he worked at DynCorp serving the Air Wing of The Department of State's Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs for over 20 years. He held important aviation operational and management positions in several overseas programs.
Surviving are his wife of 29 years, April; his children, Gray, Patrick and Haley; and beloved family members.
A gathering will begin at 6 p.m. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Indialantic, where he was an active member.
