Obituary of John A. Snyder

John A. Snyder, born in Dundalk, MD in 1952, died, Sunday, April 4, 2010. John graduated from Towson State University in 1974 with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Journalism. He met the love of his life, Veronica (Roni) Colangelo, in 1978, love at first sight, and they were married in 1980. In 1981 John and Roni started a consulting company that thrived for 18 years, and gave them the opportunity to live in New Bern, NC and Charleston, SC where they raised their four children. During these years, John was very active in basketball and fast-pitch softball, and coached youth soccer. While filming the movie "The Patriot" in Charleston in 1999, John appeared in the movie as an extra. The family moved to Satellite Beach in early 2006 when John accepted a job with Harris Corporation, where he had worked in software engineering for the past 5 years. John is survived by his parents, Alvin and Leigh Snyder of Dundalk, MD; his wife Veronica of 29 years, and children, James Bennett Snyder, Emily Jo Snyder, Veronica Anne Snyder and Thomas Andrew Snyder; his brother, Thomas Snyder of Rapid City, SD; his sister, Joy MacNeish of Eldersburg, MD; his brother, Steven Snyder of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and seven nieces and nephews. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel.
