Obituary of Ruth E. Greene

Ruth Elisa Ugarte Greene died Tuesday, April 6, 2010. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and grew up in Panama with her parents, Ruth and Manuel. She attended William and Mary College in Virginia before returning to Panama in 1947. At age 21, Ruth met Furman Greene in the Panama Canal Zone and they married eight months later. As a devoted wife of a naval officer, Ruth traveled the world as they raised their four children. In 1972, she became a Realtor while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1977, Furman and Ruth retired to Satellite Beach and Ruth continued her work as a local Realtor for Mark Realty. In her later years, she spent her days with her close companion Ed Connell and her dog B.J. close neighborhood friends, enjoyed playing tennis and bridge, and found her greatest joy spending time with her kids, grand kids and great-grand kids. Ruth Greene is survived by her four children, Gayle Miller, Thomas Greene, Linda Greene Fleming and James Greene; sister, Mary Jane Weade; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Gathering will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 10th, at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, with the Memorial Service to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruth Elisa Ugarte Greene's name to the American Heart Association.
