Obituary of Cornelis J. T. Van Leeuwen

Cornelis "Case" J.T. Van Leeuwen, of Indialantic, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 24. He was born in the Netherlands on May 5, 1926, raised in Indonesia, graduated from Delft University with a Masters degree in electrical engineering, and arrived in the United States in the mid-1960's where he settled in Florida. He married the love of his life, Gertrude "Trudy" Pare', on July 17, 1954. Case enjoyed a long career in the semiconductor industry where he specialized in reliability. Most notably, he initiated a reliability function at Harris Semiconductor and hired, trained and managed numerous engineers. Upon retiring, he continued to work as a consultant for the Raytheon Corporation. Case was a 40+year member of the Holy Name of Jesus Choir, and found solace in many hobbies during his retirement. Case was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Van Leeuwen and his sister, Alida. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Trudy; and their four children, Peter (Leanda), Lucy (John), Paul (Janina) and Monica; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Hans (Rien) and several nephews and nieces. A funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialantic. In lieu of flowers, donations in Case's name may be made to Salesian Missions (www.salesianmissions.org) - an organization supported by Case and Trudy over the years whose primary purpose is to educate young seminarians in Latin America, or to Vitas Hospice (www.vitascharityfund.org).
