Obituary of Ralph S. Loennig

Ralph S. Loennig, 83, of Melbourne, FL, died at 5:00 AM Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Born May 1, 1927, in Baker, Oregon, he was a son of Ralph S. and Meda Angell Loennig. He married Eleanor Wielage Loennig (a former Quincyan) September 8, 1962 in Melbourne. He graduated from North Powder High School in 1945, enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific and later with the U.S. Air Force in Panama. He worked at Kennedy Space Center, FL, with NASA, retiring after 31 years. Ralph was a member of Ascension Catholic Church, their Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree. Ralph is survived by his wife Eleanor, brother John Leonnig of Denver, CO, brother-in-law Paul Wielage and sister-in-law Marilyn (Wielage) Heinan, both of Melbourne, FL and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be celebrated at 1:30pm, Friday September 3, 2010 at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne. Burial will take place at a later date. Memorial Donations may be made to Ascension Catholic School and Vitas Hospice.
