Obituary of Stanley R. Schmelzer

Stan R. Schmelzer, 82, passed away on May 26, 2020 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on January 8,1938 in Madison, WI. He is survived by hisspouse Carolyn (Miller); children Carmen (Tim) Shepherd, Kirt (Christy) Schmelzer, and Craig Schmelzer; eight grandchildren Tory, Trevor, Karissa, Paisley, Zachary, Savannah, Dawson and Theressa; as well as his great grandchildren Elliana, Mackenzie, Kinsley and Brynlee.

After graduating from Madison Central High School he served in the Army for 8 years as a 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper. He met his wife Carolyn on a blind date and was married for 55 years. He worked at Oscar Meyer for 40 years as a plant worker and supervisor. At a young age he had a love for the ocean and aquariums. As a result of that love he and Carolyn retired to Florida in 2000.
Through the years he shared his passion with all of his family.

He was loved by many. A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family was always present. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 1, 2020 at 11:00 am at Beach Funeral Home, 4999 N. Wickham Rd. Melbourne, Florida 32940. A Memorial Service will be scheduled in Wisconsin later this summer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Brevard Animal Shelter or American Parkinson’s Disease Association.
