CMSGT Hank Springham, alias M/Sgt Hank Springham (1952-53) while I was assigned to McAndrew AFB, Argentia,, Newfoundland. You will always be remember in my heart as the kindly gentleman, with fantastic leadership skills that took a young airman, lost at that time and made of him a contributor to society and to the field of Education. You masterly inculcated this skills to all who were assigned to you to help further the mission of the Air Force. Your patience, kindness, firmness and love for people help me to do my very best and bring pride to you and Hq 6610th ABGp. You help me reach goals I never thought were possible for me, having been the product of an orphanage. But you changed me into a person who saw no limit in my achievement expectations. I will always remember you for your kindness, persistence in getting the best out of all of us, as well as making us proud of our achievements under your supervision. You are one of those lights that helped me become what I am today. I last saw you in 1954 when you and Helen arrived in San Antonio, stationed at Lackland and what a joy that was to see the two of you again. I had hopes you and Helen would retire and remain in San Antonio.
God's love and mine,
S/Sgt John A. Michel, Ed.D.

Deepest condolences to my sister, Helen, and her 5 children on the passing of a wonderful husband, father, brother-in-law and friend. Hank came to the Base at Argentia, Newfoundland in the 50's where he met Helen and fell in love. He came to our house in Fox Harbour and we all loved him immediately and he loved all of us in return. He was the perfect gentleman and always welcomed us to his house in Florida, which could be overwhelming at times when a bunch of Houlihans got together. He didn't seem to mind and loved hearing Newfie music and songs. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of Uncle Hank's passing. What a great, long life. Two great memories for me. 1988 in Panama City, Florida. Watching Uncle Hank eating raw oysters at the raw bar with Gail's husband, Rick. The other memory is Uncle Hank describing how he gave my father a haircut at age 9 in Fox Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada. It was horrible and Dad never forgot it.
Rest in peace, Uncle Hank.
