Kenneth Duffey

Obituary of Kenneth Eugene Duffey

Kenneth Eugene Duffey, 64, beloved son and father, passed away unexpectedly at home. Born in 1956 in Waynesboro, PA, Ken was the son of Richard “Dick” and Anna Mary Wingerd. He graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School in 1974. Upon graduating, Ken pursued his dream of being an airman in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, he served as an aircraft mechanic and even all these years later, he could still identify an aircraft purely by sound. Ken got the opportunity to travel around the world while in the Air Force, and lived in Australia for a few years. After leaving the Air Force, he worked as a diesel mechanic for many years. Ken’s work ethic was unmatched.

If you asked Ken what his greatest achievement in life was, he would quickly tell you that it was his two daughters, Amy Lynn and Kimberley. He would talk to anybody who would listen, and even to those who wouldn’t, about his girls. That is probably what they will miss most about their dad; he was their biggest cheerleader. His six grandchildren were the icing on the cake for him. He was excited every single time he became a “granpa.”

Ken will be remembered for his easy laugh and sense of humor. He had a love for life and enjoyed every minute of it. Being a cancer survivor for 10 years gave him an even greater appreciation for life. He had a passion for all things racing, spending time with friends, and fishing. Just within the past few years, Ken had the opportunity to cross a few things off his bucket list. He traveled to the Florida Keys, went on a camping trip to Pennsylvania, attended Gatornationals, and even met his hero, John Force. He had a blast and loved to talk about all the many adventures he had.

Ken is survived by his loving mother, Anna Mary, his daughters, Amy Lynn (Chris) and Kim (Eric), his grandbabies Jamie, Jordyn, Alexis, Colin, Avery, and Emma, his brothers Jim and Denny, as well as many other relatives. He was predeceased in life by his father, Richard Wingerd. A small service will be held at the discretion of the family.

In remembrance of Ken’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
