Obituary of Lloyd Raymond Worster

 

Lloyd (Chip) Raymond Worster passed on February 11, 2021 at his home at Buena Vida Estates in West Melbourne, Florida, with his wife at his side.  He was born March 8, 1934, in Winn, Maine, the first child of Sylvester and Agnes (Mai) Mable Priest Worster.  He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Jeannette Marie.  He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years,  Louise Eleanor Gower, their four daughters, Wendy Hocevar, Rebecca  (Naji) Al-Mutairi, Belinda  (Johnathan) Lantz and Jodi (Jeff) Strickle, brother Morris and sister Sylvia Ester Wagner, Aunt Lori MacManus, ten grandchildren, Sharifa, Maryam, Abdullah, Mohamed, Yusef and Amani Al-Mutairi, Johnathan and Benjamin Lantz, Jacob and Jared Strickle, and five great grandchildren, Hilal, Aisha, Eileen, Brody and Stesha, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Chip joined the Air Force in 1953 where he became a meteorologist and retired in 1977 from PAFB as Senior Master Sergeant.  He received his Associate Degree in computer programming while in the service and six weeks after his retirement from the Air Force, went to work at Kennedy Space Center.  He retired from Grumman after 18 years of service and had been one of the 13 original test engineers on the space shuttle program. He was a member of East Coast Sailing Association, past commodore of the Southeast Nordic Tugs of America, Trinity Wellsprings Church, Cape Elizabeth Grange, and the 'Grumpy Ole Sailors'.

 

A memorial will be held at Trinity Wellsprings Church, 638 South Patrick Drive, Satellite Beach, FL

on March 6 at 11:00 AM.  It will also be live on YouTube.  A private burial will be held at Cape Canaveral National Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Trinity Wellsprings Church or the American Heart Association.
