Obituary of Richard James Lucas

Richard James Lucas, 85, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 20, 2021.  He was in the loving presence of his wife of 65 years and children after a cancer diagnosis. 

Richard was born on August 31, 1935 in New York City, raised his family in West Babylon, NY, and has lived the last 25 years of retirement in Melbourne, FL. 

Richard, “Pop” always had a smile on his face and could make a friend anywhere. Anyone who meet him could feel his warmth and charm. He loved a party, made sure all the ladies had a dance partner, and the children especially his grandchildren gravitated to him because he was full of life and fun!  Richard loved to be on the water; the beach, the boat, or fishing. 

He truly loved his family and nothing brought him more joy than seeing them all together.  He was lucky enough to find the love of his life at 16 years old and had just celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary on July, 7, 2021. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Joan, his children Kathy(Fred), Karen (Armando), Richard (Adrienne), and Kim. His grandchildren; Amanda (Adam), Kyle, Alexander, Jordan, Andrew, Remy, Renee, Lucas, Chase, and Rhyse.
