Obituary of Galen Richard Poulin

Galen Richard Poulin went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2021.  Galen was born to Joseph and Kasina Poulin on August 14, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio.  He married Olga Treytiak of Cleveland, Ohio on April 7, 1956.

 

Galen joined the Air Force where he traveled around the world with his family during his twenty-three-year career.  He fought for his country and retired from Patrick AFB as a SMSgt.  Throughout his life he mentored many as a first sergeant, a Big Brother with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and as a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Knights of Columbus.  He was a great cook, mean griller, loved spending time with family and friends, and enjoyed rooting for his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns.

He is preceded in death by his wife Olga, his son Jerome, his brothers Charles and Keith, and his great grandchildren Dayton and Cora.

He is survived by his sister Nelda (Rick), his daughters Lynne (Bill), Frances (Butch), Juliana (Mike), Margaret (Gerald), Marian, grandchildren Tonya, Jennifer, Christie, Megan (Bryant), Amanda, great-grandchildren Aryia, Shannon, Andrew, Lily, Jasmin, Isabelle, James and Leah as well as his “adopted” daughters Jamie and Cindy.

Visitation will be at held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community located at 3050 N. Highway A1A, Indialantic, FL.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.

A private burial will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Legion Post 348, 105 Lincoln Ave., Cape Canaveral, FL  32920 or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
