Obituary of Margaret Louise Hudson

Margaret Louise Hudson, 91, of Satellite Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2022.

Margaret was born on July 17, 1930 in Washington, D.C., to John Seabold and Mamie Brown, and graduated from Eastern High School in 1947. She was married on October 8, 1948 to her high school sweetheart, Joseph Hudson, who preceded her in death on November 3, 2003. Joe and Margaret moved to Satellite Beach in the early 1980’s, and both spent their remaining days there.

She is survived by her 5 adult children, John Hudson, Peggy Garrison, Tom Hudson, Kenny Hudson, and Nancy Brockrogge, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Margaret was always very active, and enjoyed bowling and softball in her early years and aerobics and jazzercise after she moved to Florida. She devoted her life to her family, and ‘Mammaw’s house’ has always been the go-to place for her many offspring, no matter the age. She loved children and animals, especially cats, had a strong faith, and loved the beach. And mostly—she loved her family.

She had a great sense of humor, and was always practical and down to earth. Everyone enjoyed being around her, and she related easily to people of any age. Though she reached the age of 91, she remained young at heart throughout her life. One of her favorite things to say was, ‘I don’t feel any different than I did at 17. I just don’t know who that old lady is looking at me in the mirror.’ Which pretty much sums up Margaret; full of life, always lighthearted, and fun to be around. Hers was a home full of laughter, always.

She was deeply loved, and will be sorely missed. She’s gone now, but her influence on multiple generations will remain. She showed us how to live, how to love, and how to have fun doing it. And when the sand in the hourglass was running out, she faced the end bravely, and on her terms, like we always knew she would.

Hers was a life well-lived, and a race well-run, and she leaves behind a family that is deeply grateful. Her commitment to us was unwavering and unconditional. And who can ask for more than that?
