Obituary of Lisa Jan Schierholtz-Sweeney

Lisa Jan Schierholtz-Sweeney, 61, of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, January 23, 2022.

Lisa was born on March 28, 1960 to Tony and Marie Strazzo in New London, Connecticut. Lisa graduated from Ledyard High School in 1978 and earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida.

Upon graduating, she worked as an X-ray technician in Brevard County. She also opened up her own restaurant, Bitter and Sweet, in Indian Harbour Beach. Later she worked as a Project Manager at Frazier Engineering, Inc. After her career there, she started a Rehab Furniture business with great success. Later, along with her business, she worked as an administrative assistant at the South Mainland Library in Micco.

Growing up, she was active in various sports, including AAU track and field. She continued to be active in sports throughout her life, coaching or supporting the various youth teams for her children and their friends.

Over the last two decades, Lisa enjoyed finding old and odd pieces of furniture and restoring, rehabbing, and creating unique pieces of furniture and décor. She immensely enjoyed selling her unique creations at various Rehab and Antique markets and shops where she made many friends. She also enjoyed reading throughout her life which led to her work at the South Mainland Library, where she had many friends.

When she had time for hobbies, Lisa loved gardening and cooking delicious, gourmet meals for her family and friends. She was always the most talented and gracious hostess. Lisa was also an accomplished musician and often entertained her guests playing guitar and singing with her friends.

Lisa was predeceased by her father, Tony Strazzo. She is survived by her husband, Michael Sweeney, her mother Marie “Jimmie” Strazzo, and her brother Peter Strazzo. She is also survived by her son Alex Schierholtz and his wife, Dr. Jennifer Schierholtz, granddaughter Kinsley Schierholtz, her daughter, Carly Schierholtz, and her step-daughter, Jillian Tromp.

A Life Celebration for Lisa will be held at Gleason Park on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Friends of the Library at the South Mainland Library in Micco. Please mail checks, in memory of Lisa, to Friends of the South Mainland Library at 7921 Ron Beatty Boulevard Barefoot Bay, Florida 32976.
