Obituary of Joy Jowers

Joy Chamberlin Jowers passed away on Friday February 25, 2022.  She was born on October 14, 1971 in Orlando, Florida and adopted into her Chamberlin family; then of Merritt Island.  Joy was 50 years old.

She was a resident of Indialantic for nineteen years and recently resided at her teenage home in Cocoa on the Indian River with her dad Russell H. Chamberlin.  She relished in the peaceful, calming serenity and comfort of our home.  There, she would watch the beautiful sunrises over the Lagoon with her husband Gary Michael Jowers whom she leaves along with her beloved children Austen Russell Jowers age 13 and Grace Marie Jowers age 10.  She also leaves her brothers Craig Russell Chamberlin of Merritt Island and Chad Amos Chamberlin of Cocoa Beach and their families.

Joy graduated from Cocoa High School in 1990 and later Brevard Community College.  On December 18, 1999 she graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.  It was her very proud accomplishment.  She then worked for Dillard’s department store on Merritt Island as a Security Analyst.

Joy and Gary Jowers were married on October 26, 2002 and honeymooned traveling in Costa Rica.  Gary has been building a rental resort/restaurant in Playa Domical on the Pacific Ocean, a tropical paradise for their retirement.

Joy loves her family as we love her.  She enjoyed gardening, plants, yard care, beaches, parks, old movies and their stars’ biographies and pictures.  She was especially fond of Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall.

Her most recent, very favorite job, was at Lowe’s Garden Center in Rockledge tending the plants and shrubs and assisting customers and working under her boss and friend, Bill.  She also dearly loved her cat, Meleana, who gave her comfort and companionship.

Joy was an avid fan of the past presidential election and loved political discourse.  She held very strong beliefs about politics and national leaders and loved to defend her positions and refute the opposition.

Joy’s children, Austen and Grace, were most important in her life.  She loved and cared for them, Gary and their household, taking them to the beach, parks and shopping.

Special thanks are given to her friends who have been so kind and loving to Joy and Austen and Grace over the past fourteen months and longer.  They are Brian McCahill (Indialantic), Sheryl, Justin, Mikey Apaklan (Indialantic), Gary’s Aunt Betty Jo and Uncle Bob Strah (Melbourne), Erin and Wes Davison and children (Indialantic) and Gary’s daughter Jenna Jowers.

We love Joy and know she is living in the Kingdom of Heaven with her Father-Mother God, for all eternity, as Jesus promises us.

“The King’s daughter is all glorious within” –Psalms
