Nina Bruner

Obituary of Nina A Bruner

Indialantic, FL – Nina Alford Bruner, 87, died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 8, surrounded by her children and dear friend, Missy Gembarowski. Born March 8, 1935 to Helen and Ricker Alford, she grew up in West Palm Beach, FL, attending Graham Eckes School and Hood College.

Nina was a gracious hostess (and witty practical joker!) to many close friends over many years. Her love of cooking led to opening kitchen supply stores in NJ and FL, publishing a cookbook, and writing food columns in local newspapers. Nina had a deep love for animals (there was always a Golden Retriever at her feet), books (was well-versed on any topic), and traveling (to every corner of the globe) all while creating comfortable homes for family and friends in Moorestown, NJ, Merritt Island, Satellite Beach, Melbourne, and Indialantic, FL.

Nina was a proud and beloved member of Chapter CK, of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Sisterhood. For more than 65 years she shared a life-long commitment to providing women educational opportunities with her PEO sisters.

Nina was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Gerald (Jerry) Bruner, who died August 7, 2021. She is survived by her three children, Lore (Mareen) Bruner of Hobe Sound, Scott of Indialantic and Sandra of Melbourne; granddaughters Kate Rosiene of Melbourne and Abbie Bruner of Orlando and brother Ricker Alford of Jupiter, Florida.

Nina’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00am, Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S Patrick Dr, Indian Harbour Beach, FL.
