Obituary of Matthew Aaron Duckett
Matthew Arron Duckett, 61, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2022 at VITAS Healthcare in Rockledge, FL.
Matt was born January 26, 1961 in Melbourne, FL. And grew up in Indian Harbour Beach, FL. He earned his first B.S. degree in 1984 from Rollins College in History, while working as a journeyman plumber. People who worked with him said he could cut all the pipe from memory after a single measure. Matt later worked for McDonnell Douglas as a payload specialist. While working for McDonnell Douglas, he earned his second B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to help the Federation Aviation Administration maintain legacy life-critical air traffic control software.
Matt loved surfing, skateboarding and especially fishing. He had many articles written about his “catch of the day” landing snook, redfish, and flounder. Matt really loved coaching soccer for Indian Harbour Beach recreational soccer. He was a loving and devoted father and supportive husband. He enjoyed many family vacations in the Florida Keys showing his three sons the art of fishing he so enjoyed. About 25 miles off the coast of Islamorada they caught dolphin (mahi) tuna and sometimes a big sailfish.
Matt is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Duckett. Matt will be greatly missed by his wife Pamela, three sons, Zachary, Jacob, and Benjamin, his loving father Dick Duckett, loving sister, Debi Duckett, Cello Lescano and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
