Attending and graduating from the same 1952 class at Southside High School in Elmira, NY.... spending the next year at Jean Summer's Business School on W. Church Street .... living in the same West Elmira neighborhood as young marrieds.... and retiring to the same town in Florida. Mel was a constant in my life. The only time I ever saw her beaten down was when Bill, her husband, passed away, but true to form Mel, took a breath and pulled herself together and went on living as Bill would have wanted her to.
I can also attest to the fact that she was a good mother and just a down-right good person that anyone would be happy to call their friend.
