Obituary of Raymond Henry Vonderlieth
Raymond Vonderlieth passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 7th in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida at the age of 88. He is now with the love of his life, his wife and soulmate Bootsie who passed away last August. They were together for 67 years, married for 66 of them, and you could say he died of a broken heart.
Raymond grew up living above a luncheonette/ice cream parlor in Queens, NY that was popular during World War II. As a teenager he was into weightlifting and cars. As an adult he was a member of the Thundervettes and BMW car clubs. His second love was a metallic blue 57 Thunderbird that he kept for 25 years until he sold his “hanger queen”.
He worked as a tin knocker before becoming a NYC Firefighter for 20 years. After retiring at 52 (lucky guy) he moved down to Florida with his wife and daughters.
He is predeceased by his older brother Bill Vonderlieth. He is survived by his four children: Veronica, Ray Jr., Richard, and Kimberly as well as 3 grandchildren: Nicole, Kaitlyn, and Jack. Kaitlyn wants to follow in Pop Pop’s footsteps and is hoping to become a NYC firefighter as well. He also has 2 nieces, Darlene, and Diane.
He was loved by all and will be terribly missed. He will be cremated and if you would like to pay your respects, a Mass will be held in honor of Raymond on Thursday, April 4th, 2024 at 11:00 am at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 3050 N Highway A1A, Indialantic, Florida. Visitation at the church begins at 10:30 am.
Please wear gray in honor of his favorite color.
