Obituary of Mary Elizabeth B. Sherman

Elizabeth Burke Sherman, of Suntree, went to her eternal rest on Monday, January 9, 2012, as a result of an accident. She was a resident of Melbourne for 25 years, Liz as she was known, was born in Mt. Kisco, NY, the second daughter of John F. and Julia D. Burke. Her childhood was spent in Pleasantville, NY with two sisters and a younger brother. Following college graduation, Liz lived briefly in NYC, and then moved to Boston and a career with Sabina Airlines. In subsequent years she lived in Ridgefield, CT, where she sold real estate. While in Connecticut, she met and married the love of her life, John (Jack) Sherman. They later moved to Virginia and finally chose Melbourne, FL and Suntree for their retirement years. Both were avid golfers, and Suntree was the perfect choice in every way. Jack preceded Liz in death in 2007. Liz is survived by her loving family, which includes her sister, Julie (Bob) Madsen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her sister, Trish (Jack) Brebbia of Henderson, NV; her brother, Tom (Sue) Burke of Madison, CT; her niece, Arje McCarty (Jim), Dunwoody, GA; her nephew, Brice (Shelby) Brown, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her nephew, Anthony (Andrea) Brebbia, Las Vegas, NV; her nephew, Christian (Sara) Brebbia, London, UK; her niece, Jennifer (Tom) Murphy, Holland, PA; her niece, Julie (Rob) Coogan Middlefield, CT; her nephew, Jonathan (Yvette) Burke, Yaccipa, CA; her step daughter, Dawn (Denis) Eaton, Leesburg, VA; her step daughter, Maura (Doug) Dribben, Woodstock, MD; and many other great nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL on Monday, January 30th, at 11:30 A.M.
