Obituary of Betty L Boone

Betty (Pugh) Boone, 87, of Satellite Beach, FL. passed away on Valentine's Day at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, FL. She was born on April 18, 1924 in Mattoon, Illinois to Charles and Elna Pugh. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Daniel M. Boone and her daughter, Terry E. Henry of Roanoke, VA. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Drake of Hendersonville, NC and Cora Ann Hatala of NY, her son, Dan Boone of Huntersville, NC, and her grandchildren, Cindy Day of Roanoke, VA, David Henry of Rocky Mount, VA, Brooke Boone and Adam Boone of Charlotte, NC as well as 4 great-grandchildren. Betty graduated from Mattoon High School in 1942. In 1947, Betty graduated from the Cadet Nursing Program, Good Samaritan Hospital, West Palm Beach, FL. At age 72, she retired from nursing. After her nursing career, Betty became a Red Cross volunteer at Patrick AFB pharmacy with over 9 years of service. Betty always enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She took delight in traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Her hobbies included bridge and bowling. She was an avid dog lover and had numerous collies over the years. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and grandmother. Her friends will remember her as an outstanding nurse. A gathering will be held at Beach Funeral Homes, Indian Harbour Beach, on Friday, March 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. with services to begin at 7.
