Obituary of Norman Francis Fennelly

Norman "Norm" F. Fennelly, Colonel, USAF Retired. On February 27, 2012, Norm flew his final flight to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ in 1943, he was the son of Joseph and Gertrude Fennelly, both deceased. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Arlene Fennelly of Melbourne, FL; two grandchildren, granddaughter Amanda Alexander of Pottersville, NY and a grandson Andrew Alexander of Alexandria, VA; a brother, Arthur Fennelly and sister-in-law Madeline Fennelly of Verona, NJ; and a brother-in-law, Anthony Petrucci of Ft. Myers, FL. He was predeceased by his son, Shawn Fennelly, older brother Joseph Fennelly and sister-in-law Joann Petrucci. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service in 1991. He was then employed as a Senior Defense Analyst by Science Applications International Corporation in support of the Joint Staff until he retired in 2002. He is credited with 115 combat missions. His most significant military awards include: the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Distinguished Flying Cross and twelve air medals. In 1987, he was selected as one of only fifty US Government employees to attend Harvard University's prestigious John F. Kennedy School of Government for Senior Officials in National Security. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norm's name can be made to the Toni Keen Memorial Fund at 2290 W. Eau Gallie Blvd. Suite 202, Melbourne, Florida 32935. He will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC, at 3:00 p.m. on June 4, 2012 with full military honors.
