Obituary of Jesse C Drain

Colonel Jesse C. Drain, Jr., 100, a retired Army Colonel, died Saturday, March 24, 2012, at his residence. He was born in Union, SC, and was a resident of Brevard County for 34 years. He came to Brevard in 1978 from Indiana. He served in the Army Infantry, retiring in 1966 with 30 years of active duty. He was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and the Air War College. He served in World War II as a Battalion Commander and as a Regimental Commander in the Korean War. For gallantry in action during World War II, he was awarded the Silver Star and two Bronze Stars, and in the Korean War, he was awarded the Silver Star, Soldiers Medal and Bronze Star. Survivors include two sons, Robert W. Drain and Jesse C. Drain III; sister, Ann Drain Gilliam; and nieces, Charlene Fisch, Jan Sturgis, and Hunter Olson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. Drain, and son, David A. Drain. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Dr., Indian Harbour Beach. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29th, at Saint George Catholic Community, PAFB South Patrick Chapel, 84 Harrier St., Satellite Beach. Entombment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
