Obituary of Alice Herring MacDonald

Alice "Betty" MacDonald, resident of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at age 86. She was born on August 1, 1925 in Philadelphia, Penn., and attended Penn State where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1946 and was a founding sister of Delta Delta Delta. She worked as an elementary school teacher and lived all over the United States with her husband, John Prattley MacDonald, and their thirteen children. She was a devout Roman Catholic, and a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community. She is survived by her sister, Ann Herring, Vero Beach, Fla.; brother, J. Joseph Herring, Media, Penn.; son, John Joseph MacDonald, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; daughter, MaryBeth MacDonald, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.; daughter, Sandy Yawn, Stuart, Fla.; daughter, Maureen Wallace, Stuart, Fla.; daughter, Aileen Mouritsen, W. Melbourne, Fla.; daughter, Patricia Betz, Beaufort, S.C.; son, Richard MacDonald, Arden, N.C.; daughter, Linda MacDonald, Pascagoula, Miss.; son, Christopher MacDonald, Indialantic, Fla.; daughter, Rhoda Fisher, Titusville, Fla.; daughter, Joanie DuPont, Satellite Beach, Fla.; daughter, Margie Stahl, Satellite Beach, Fla.; 35 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, John Prattley MacDonald and son, James MacDonald. The viewing will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, Fla.
