Obituary of Antoinette Colson

Antoinette "Toni" Colson, 84, of Indian Harbour Beach, passed away Friday, Aug 10. Toni was born Mary Ann Schallmoser, in 1928, in Chicago, to the late Anton and Mary Schallmoser. At age 16, she joined the convent Sisters of St. Francis, Joliet, where she took the name, Antoinette. She went on to attend Notre Dame, obtaining a Master's degree in German, then teaching English, German, and Speech there. Toni moved to Cocoa Beach in 1971, where she taught at BCC Cocoa. She met Stan Colson in 1973, and married in Dec 1974, then moving to Seattle. She then instructed at Seattle U, and Highline CC Seattle. Stan was offered work in England and they lived there from 1979 to 1984. They returned to the Space Coast in 1984, and had lived here since. Antoinette was predeceased by her husband, Stanley, in 2009. She is survived by her step-sons; Stan, Jr. (Mayumi), John, Edwin, and Walter, and brother, Anton Schallmoser. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug 16, from 6-8pm at Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Dr, and Friday, Aug 17, from 1-2pm at Holy Name of Jesus, Indialantic. Funeral Mass will follow at 2pm. Toni will interred at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA. Donations may be made in Toni's name to the Holy Name of Jesus School.
