Obituary of Gerard Salvietti

Gerard Salvietti, 79, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Jerry, as he was known, was born on October 21, 1932, in Bronx, New York. A longtime resident of Smithtown, New York, he moved to Florida in 1991. He served his country honorably in the United States Marines and later worked as a general manager in the sheet metal industry. Jerry enjoyed fishing and shooting pool and was an exceptional craftsman, who spent many hours making toy furniture for his great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna (Katzenberger) Salvietti. Survivors include: his beloved wife, Matilda; daughters, Barbara and Robert DiMarco of Wake Forest, NC, Donna and Donald McAlpin of Brewster, NY; grandchildren, Robert Faurote of New York, NY, Kelly and Jason Hosonitz of Wake Forest, NC, Casey McAlpin of Brewster, NY and Kyle McAlpin of Brewster, NY; great-granddaughter, Julianne Elyse Hosonitz; sisters, Catherine Boda of Fairlawn, NJ and Barbara Conyers, of W. Melbourne; and a brother, Charles Salvietti of Centereach, NY. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 5th from 5 pm to 7 pm with a service to begin at 6:30 pm at Beach Funeral Home, 4999 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gerard's memory to the American Cancer Society .
