Obituary of Elizabeth H Badgley

ELIZABETH H. "Libby" BADGLEY, 90 of Melbourne, FL, passed away Monday October 22, 2012. Libby was born on January 18, 1922, in Baton Rouge, LA, to the late Edward A. and Leila (Sheridan) Harding. She moved to Brevard County in 1999 having come from Boca Raton. Libby served her country honorably as one of the first members of the Women's Army Corps during and after World War II. Later, she became an administrative assistant working for the State of Louisiana. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi; VFW (at large); TROA-Cape Canaveral & WIMSA. Of the things she enjoyed, she loved painting with water colors, collecting elephants, and being the life of the party the most. Libby is survived by her partner Stan Schmucker of Melbourne, FL; daughters Sandra Badgley of Baton Rouge, LA, and Diane Gautreau of Prairieville, LA; sisters Alice Harding of Kenner, LA, and Leila Riley of San Marcos, CA; grand-daughters Michele (Troy) Macloud, Prairieville, LA, and Amy (Philip) Sacco of Prairieville, LA; a grandson Francis (Aslyn) Gautreau of St. Amant, LA; great-grandsons Ethan Macloud, Tyler Macloud, and Taylor Sacco, of Prairieville, LA, and Gavin Gautreau of St. Amant, LA; great-granddaughters Bailey Sacco, of Prairieville, LA, and Jules Gautreau of St. Amant, LA; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John Badgley. Libby will be missed dearly. A celebration of life will be held in Gonzales, LA, on October 30th at Ourso Funeral Home from 6:30-8:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Libby's memory to Wuesthoff Hospice Center in Rockledge, FL, or to the charity of your choice.
