Obituary of Marjorie A Merker

Marjorie A. Merker was born in Port Monmouth, New Jersey on July 4, 1933 and entered through Heaven's Gate on January 20, 2013. Marge loved painting and enjoyed weekly painting sessions with her many friends. Over the years she created a large collection of paintings using all kinds of techniques and her interests included local scenes, animals and people. She also loved to follow her many friends and family on facebook and playing interactive computer games. Marge was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Donald C. Merker, and cherished granddaughter Michelle MacInnes. Marge is survived by her son David Merker and his wife Kathleen, and her daughter Debbie MacInnes and husband David. She is also survived by five grandchildren, David MacInnes, Michael MacInnes, James Merker, Daniel Merker, Patrick Merker, and Kristen Merker. In addition, she has seven great-grandchildren. Four years ago, Marge met her loving friend and companion, Mr. George Reed. George and Marge enjoyed each other's company and companionship and painted regularly with their local friends and traveled to numerous painting classes up and down the East Coast. They were inseparable and truly enjoyed sharing their lives together. Marge passed unexpectedly due to an aggressive infection associated with a recently discovered tumor. She passed peacefully at Holmes Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family, her sister Linda Blackman and her husband Fred, and her loving companion George. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Beach Funeral Home on South Patrick Drive Satellite Beach FL. The visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:45, followed by a brief service celebrating her life which will be held at 2:45. Marge requested that we respect her wishes to have a closed casket during the visitation. Marge had asked that friends and family consider donating in her name to one of her favorite charities: The Haven for Children Inc., The Ronald MacDonald House, or The ASPCA of Brevard in lieu of flowers.
