Charlotte Del Vecchio

Obituary of Charlotte Mae Del Vecchio

Charlotte Mae Del Vecchio, nee: Redmond, 96, Melbourne (Suntree), Florida, devoted mother, grandmother and aunt, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2013; after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family and the devoted staff at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida. Born in Stanley, Virginia, she was a fifth generation Virginian, and the fifth of seven children of Hubert and Lovecia Redmond, all of whom are now deceased. Charlotte and her husband, Louis, lived in Washington D.C. and northern Virginia until they moved to Satellite Beach, Florida, in 1978. Prior to retirement and relocation, they successfully owned and operated Arlington Paper Supply Company for over two decades, and then they enjoyed traveling the country. Charlotte's business acumen was inspirational to her family and all of those whom she served in the business community. Her beautiful "Irish" smile, her passion, devotion and love for the Lord, family, her work, her neighbors and her friends motivated everyone. As she had been raised, she was the driving force behind her children and grandchildren's love of independence, devotion and commitment to others, and our political system. In Virginia, Charlotte was active in the Catholic Daughters of St. Agnes Catholic Church; and in Florida, she was an active member of the Brevard County Republican Party and the Platinum Coast Republican Women's Club in the 80's and 90's. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Luba, Melbourne, Florida, who has been her caretaker since 1997; son, Louis "Chip" (Deborah) Del Vecchio, Indialantic, Florida; four grand- children, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, in 1997, after 58 years of marriage. Beach Funeral Home, 1689 S. Patrick Drive, Indian Harbour Beach, is in charge of arrangements. There will be a one-hour visitation at the church 10-11am prior to her Funeral Mass that will be held at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Highway AIA, Indialantic, on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11A.M, with a reception to follow at the Church. Her ashes will be interred at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church Memorial Garden, A1A, Indialantic, Florida, at a later date by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The William Childs Hospice House, Palm Bay; Sally's Friends (Prevent!) of Melbourne; or the Community Services Council's Meals on Wheels Program of Brevard County.
