Obituary of Dorothy Helen Pilcher

Dorothy Helen Pilcher, 87, a loving mother and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Dorothy was born in Pueblo, Colorado, December 29, 1925, to George and Mary Johnston. She met and married Billy B. Pilcher, Sr. and they had four children. Dorothy with her family moved to the Melbourne area in 1964 from Denver, Colorado. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Melbourne, Florida since 1984 and attended regularly up until the time she was unable to drive or live alone. She was also a member of the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 106 of Melbourne. She was a Past Worthy Matron twice and also held other offices with her last office being Secretary. She loved going to Grand Chapter meetings and the travel that was involved. She enjoyed the fellowship and participation in the meeting and social events held with the Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was proud of her two daughters participation in the Masonic Order of Job's Daughter's and also helped with DeMolay functions and meeting as well. She retired from Storage Technology Corp. in the mid 80's where she worked in End User Marketing and then Logistics. She also obtained her B.A. in Business Administration during this time. Dorothy will be missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many friends. She was a supportive and loving mother that taught her children the value of a job well done. She instilled high values, morals and ethics each day. Her faith in Lord helped her throughout her life and gave her the strength to use strict discipline, faith and love to raise 4 successful children. She was a great influence to her eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, crochet, reading, puzzles, music and old movies especially Elvis movies and musicals and her time reading her Bible. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She would never turn down her daughters cooking and particularly liked Italian food, stuff peppers and anything sweet. Dorothy was pre-deceased by her son, Billy B. Pilcher, Jr.(Rebecca), and is survived by her son Daniel L. Pilcher (Faye), and daughters; Susan A. Ohlin and Deborah K. Rufo, (Paul). She was also blessed with her eight grandchilden: Steven Pilcher (Linette), Sean Pilcher, (Rachel), Billy Rex Pilcher (Becky), Rachel Ohlin Lastella, (Joey), Daniel Ohlin, (Charlotte), Ryan Rufo, Ashley Rufo and Marsha Hienmann. Her seven Great Grandchildren included: Bradley, Megan, Shane and Shelby Pilcher, Elizabeth Hienmann, and Rex and Harley Pilcher We find peace in knowing Dorothy is no longer broken by illness and age, but whole again with the Lord in Heaven as well as with her son Billy and many other family and friends as her welcoming committee. Dorothy will always be with us in our hearts with loving memories. Services will be held at Beach Funeral Home on August 8, 2013.
