Robert Nolan

Obituary of Robert Joseph Nolan

Robert J. Nolan, 89, died Sunday November 15, 2009. Robert was born in 1920 in West Hoboken New Jersey, the ninth of ten children. The Nolans had a long tradition of service, so it was with pride Robert was drafted. He turned basic training into a 30 year career in the army and was a veteran of three wars. He traveled the world. He met his wife of 50 years in Puerto Rico. When his role with the army was completed his service was not done. He went to work in the elections office in Brevard Co. During his years working at the elections office, Robert attended and graduated from BCC in 1978 with an AA and was 9 credits from graduating at UCF. In 2003 he moved into the Fountains assisted living center in Melbourne. Robert was a generous and proud man. He lived a life of service that his family is proud to have observed and learned from. He was a lifelong Democrat and Gator fan—and loved his family with all of his heart. And his lifelong passion for chocolate will be preserved by his surviving children, and probably for many generations to come as he will be forever missed by his family. He leaves behind his children G June (Tom) Novak, Robert, Terry and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gloria. The family is served by Beach Funeral Home, and will hold a funeral mass at Holy Name of Jesus on November 20, 2009 at 11:00am followed by a small reception. Any memorial contributions may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org.
