JACK & I WERE NEIGHBORS AND CLOSE FRIENDS FOR OVER 20 YRS. ONE OF OUR WEEKLY HIGHLIGHTS WHEN HIS WIFE MARY WAS HERE WAS THAT FOR YEARS AFTER THE 5 O’CLOCK MASS AT THE SOUTH BASE CHAPEL THE FOUR OF US HAD DINNER AT A DIFFERENT PLACE EACH WEEK. JACK AND I OFTEN PLAYED KNOCK GIN RUMMY AT NIGHT WHILE LISTENING TO GOOD MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND ON OUR PATIOS, AS WE TRIED TO OUTFOX EACH OTHER AT CARDS. HE COULD ALSO NAME ABOUT 90% OF THE SINGERS AND THE NAMES OF THE SONG ON THE CD’S THAT PLAYED. JACK DID A LOT OF THINGS THAT MANY PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT. SOME OF THESE WERE HELPING NEIGHBORS WITH REPAIRS, CARRYING THEM TO DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS, JUST BEING A GOOD FRIEND WHEN YOU NEEDED ONE MOST, ETC. HIS WORK WITH THE CHAPEL WAS ENORMOUS THROUGH THE YEARS. IN ADDITION TO HIS SERVING AS A MINISTER FOR THE SACRAMENTS, JACK AND I WERE AMONG THE COOKS AT THE CHAPEL PICNICS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, STARTING THE FIRES TO SANITIZING THE UTENSILS TO COOKING THE GOODIES. HIS WORK AT THE CHAPEL ITSELF WILL STAND FOR YEARS, SOME OF THESE WERE MAKING THE CROSSES (WHICH ARE STILL BEING USED) AROUND EASTER TIME. OF COURSE I HELD THE CROSSES WHILE HE DID THE WORK, OTHER THINGS HE DID WAS WITH THE ALTAR TABLE WHERE FATHER RED WANTED 21” CUT OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF IT. WELL, WITH THE HELP OF ANDY IORIO AND WITH ME HOLDING THE TABLE HE WAS ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH IT. IF YOU HAVE EVER TRIED TO TAKE THE MIDDLE OUT OF A TABLE YOU KNOW THAT IS QUITE A TASK TO KEEP EVERYTHING LEVEL. LOOK AROUND AND YOU WILL SEE A REMODELING HE DID OF THE SONG BOARD, AND CHECK THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS WHICH ARE BACK ON THE WALLS NOW. JACK WORKED MANY DAYS CUTTING DOORS, SANDING, STAINING, INSTALLING HINGES AND SO FORTH SO THAT THE STATIONS COULD BE DISPLAYED SIMPLY BY OPENING THE DOORS DURING SERVICES. HE WORKED ON PLACES TO DISPLAY EASTER LILLIES DURING THE SEASON AND SO MANY OTHER THINGS TOO MANY TO MENTION IN THIS SHORT PERIOD. JACK WAS A BIG PART OF OUR MILITARY FAMILY AS WELL AS HIS OWN BLOOD FAMILY. WE SHALL MISS HIM FOREVER. GOD SPEED JACK.

To Jack's family - Your father was such a nice man. We have some nice memories of him. He always made a point to come over and speak to us when he saw us out in the yard. We will remember all of his garage sales. My girl friend Jenna and I always bought something from him. We remember him drinking beer with us after the fire works at our last years fourth of July party. The house was filled with children and he didn't know anyone but was just as comfortable as if he did. We remember him coming to a last minute Christmas party we had last year. Again, a house full of parents and kids. He ate, drank and enjoyed himself as he watched other dad's being wrapped with rolls of streamers as they were being decorated like Christmas trees by their kids. We told him that next year he would have to be decorated along with the dads. We will remember him as the "Sharp dressed Man". He always looked so dapper. We will remember selling girl scout cookies to him. He was usually one of our first customers each year, therefore, Payton would not yet have her sales pitch down and he would wait patiently for her to get her spiel out. I would have him ask her the routine questions like what is your troop going to do with the money, which cookies do you like best, do I get a discount if I buy more than one box etc and he would stand there and patiently wait for her to figure out the answers. We will remember that the last time we spoke with him the three of us laughed a lot as he made jokes about his prostate exam. He was such a nice man. We will miss having him across the street very much. The Price Family
