Obituary of John B. Germann

John B Germann, Suntree, Florida 83 years old. Born in Albany, New York, October 21, 1926. He was the son of the late John B Germann Sr and Mary Ringler Germann. He is survived by his wife, Janet Christie Germann. He was predeceased by his first wife Jeanne O'Brien Germann. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Burnside of Ocala, Florida and a brother, Anthony(Brenda) of Harwich, Mass. He was predeceased by a sister, Marlyn Weber. He is also survived by three step children, Donna (Paul) Yesersky, James (Justine) Christie and Gary (Claire) Christie, six step grandchildren, one step great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. John was a businessman and retired several years ago as President and CEO of several bowling centers and car washes in the Albany Capital District area including Del Lanes, Pine Lanes, South End Lanes, and Sporthaven Lanes. John was and outstanding athlete who excelled in baseball, football. Bowling and golf. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and was inducted into the schools sports hall of fame. John was also inducted into several other sports hall of fames including the Capital District Bowling Proprietors Hall of Fame, the Albany Bowling Association Hall of Fame and the Albany Twilight League Baseball Hall of Fame. John was a member of the Professional Bowlers Association and participated on the national bowlers tour. He was well known for his success on Capital District TV tournaments. As a golfer, he was a club champion at Normanside Country Club. In Melbourne, he was an active member of the Suntree Country Club. For his many sports achievements, John was awarded the Empire State Sports Medal by New York Governor, Hugh L. Carey. In liew of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Johns name. The family would like to thank the staff at Holmes Regional Medical Center and Wuestoff Hospice care of Rockledge. A memorial service will be held at Beach Funeral Homes 4999 N. Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL on Friday July 23, 2010 at 3:30 PM.
