Obituary of George Brooks Jones

George Brooks Jones, Sr.(80), of Melbourne, FL passed away Friday, November 26, 2010. He was born December 16, 1929 to Ballard & Evelyn Jones, Sr. of Midway, GA. George was a veteran of the Korean War. He relocated to the Melbourne area in 1956. He retired from RCA and CSR at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. He graduated from FTU (UCF) with a B.A. in Industrial Management. George was a member of the Hinesville, GA., Masonic Lodge #271 and received his 50 year award; he is also a member of the Azan Shrine Temple. George was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ballard Jones, Jr., both of Midway. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Butler; and four children, Rebecca Atkinson, Deborah Hale (Charles Hagy), Brooks Jr. (Beverly), and Richard (Jeanette) and also survived by 8 grandchildren, Hudson, Rachael, Ryan, Amanda, Christopher, Cody, Chase, and Catie; and three great-grandchildren, Connor, Alex, and Tyler. Also, he is survived by his nephew Ballard Jones, III; nieces, Cynthia Jones, Stacy Jones; and great nephew Ballard Jones, IV. George was an avid outdoors man; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the simple things in life. Visitation will be held on Friday, 12/3, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and a memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, 12/4 at 10:00 a.m., both at Beach Funeral Home, (Wickham Rd) and Burial will follow at the Florida Memorial Gardens.
