Obituary of Edwin R. Luginbuhl
Edwin R. Luginbuhl, of Satellite Beach, passed away, Monday, December
27, 2010. He was born in New York City to Edith and Ralph Luginbuhl.
He grew up in Malverne, Long Island. He joined the U.S. Army during
WWII and was a Ball Turret Gunner on a B-17 in the European Theater,
completing 35 missions. Edwin attended Syracuse University, where he
studied Advertising. He was recalled to Active Duty with the U.S. Air
Force during the Korean War. Edwin received the Bronze Star for his
service in Vietnam and retired honorably from the Air Force at the
rank of Major. Following his dedicated military service, Edwin had an
extended career as a Procurement Officer for the National Aeronautics
and Space Administration at the Kennedy Space Center.
Edwin was an active member of Satellite Beach United Methodist Church
and an affiliate member of Banner Elk Presbyterian Church, Banner Elk,
NC.
He was a Life Member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, the
447th Bomb Group Association, and the Military Officers Association of
America.
He is survived by his wife, Raymonda; son, David (Anne) Luginbuhl;
daughter Kristen (Gene) Muhart; brother, Donald (Esther) Luginbuhl;
sister-in-law, Elaine (Dale) Hollrah; grandchildren, Emma Luginbuhl,
Morgan, Marisa and Lauren Muhart, along with a large extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Satellite Beach United Methodist
Church on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11am. Burial will be held at a
later date at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or
the Satellite Beach United Methodist Church.
