Obituary of Owen A. McCaskill

Owen Allen McCaskill Jr. was born on March 6, 1921 in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He died on March 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen Allen McCaskill Sr. and Virginia Carter McCaskill, his brother, Bascom "Rock" McCaskill, and his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary Elizabeth Benvenuti McCaskill. He is survived by his sisters Nancy Autry, Betty Younts, Lydia Cox, Margaret Carpenter, his brother David McCaskill, his children Mark McCaskill and Marianne Carter, and his treasured grandson Tyler Carter. In his later years, he resided at Century Oaks Assistive Living Center and was a patient at the Melbourne Kidney Center. The family thanks the staff of both facilities for their loving care of "Mr. Owen". He was the kindest and gentlest of men who had the strength and courage to step up when lesser men stepped away. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Services will be held in Fayetteville, North Carolina at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
