Obituary of Genevieve Mae Tietge

Genevieve (Gen) Mae Tietge, 84, of Satellite Beach, FL passed away on Monday, 14 March 2011. Gen was born 21 May 1926 in Westbury, MN. She attended country school and graduated from High School in Detroit Lakes, MN in 1945. She attended the Interstate Business School in Fargo, ND and became a Stenographer. She moved to So. California with her sister and worked as a secretary under Civil Service Administration for seven years and then traveled to Norway to visit her sister who worked there in Oslo. There she was offered a job in the U.S. Embassy where she worked for two years. During this time she met an Air Force Lt. Jerry Tietge and she married him in Oslo, Norway 14 June 1959. Shortly thereafter they returned to the U.S. and for the next 26 years traveled to 13 different duty stations, the last being in Washington, D.C. During those 26 years she gave birth to two beautiful children and devoted her life to raising them. Once they left home she went back to her secretarial career. Her last job was working in the White House and Capitol Building for Vice President and then President George H.W. Bush. Gen retired in 1993. And for the next 18 years she and her husband spent their summers in Detroit Lakes, MN and winters in Alexandria, VA and Satellite Beach, FL. Gen is survived by her husband, Brig. General Jerry Tietge, USAF Ret; daughter Lisa Tietge (Dupont) and son-in-law Martin E. Dupont of Alexandria, VA, son Scott Tietge and girl friend Cary Casas of Alexandria, VA, granddaughter, Stephanie Dupont of Alexandria, VA. Gen was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar & Hilma Pearson, sisters, Virginia Pearson (White), Evelyn Pearson (Johnson), Ann Pearson (Dwyer) and brother, Karol Pearson. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 19 March, 2011 at 1100 at the Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach, FL.
