Obituary of Harry Byron Brown

Harry Byron Brown, 85 of Melbourne Beach, Florida passed away May 31, 2011. He retired from the U.S. Navy having served our country honorable for 20 years. Harry served on the USS Cimarron, serving as a corpsman with the First Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He served in the China Marines as well as the United States Submarine Service and on the submarine Odax. Harry is a member of the United States Submarine Veterans, Inc., the China Marines, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of James Island Masonic Lodge 396 AFM and Omar Shrine, Mt. Pleasant, S.C. He is survived by his wife, Mary B. Small Brown; daughter, Virginia (Richard) Bartel of Charleston, S.C.; sons, Dr. James A. (Carolyn) Brown and John G. Brown of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy at a later date.
