Obituary of Estell Janie Bridgers

Janie Bridgers, 85 of Satellite Beach since 1958, died Monday, June 20, peacefully in her sleep at Hibiscus Court in Melbourne, after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. Janie served as Vice-Mayor and Mayor of Satellite Beach and spent several years on the Satellite Beach City Council. She served as a Red Cross Volunteer for 50 years at PAFB and other military instalations. She was an active and accomplished bowler, which is how she met her husband 66 years ago. Surviving are her husband, Sam Bridgers, Jr., her only child Jan Bridgers Rucker, her two grandsons, Gerrard Railey, Jr., and Robert Milton Railey, and her great-grandson, Jake Railey. The family will receive friends at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach at 3 PM on Friday, June 24, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 PM. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Hospice. Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach is in charge of arrangements.
