Cecil Grant

Obituary of Cecil Grant

“Loving father, brother, grandfather & friend”

Cecil “Will” Grant, 70, of Melbourne, FL entered into the gates of heaven in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.

Will was born in St. Augustine, FL on May 4, 1949, son of the late Cecil Grant and Julia Snowman. Throughout the years Will a former resident of Watertown, CT, worked for Center Subaru of CT, and more recently for long-time close friends of Scott and Mary Bloyd at SemiPack Services of Melbourne.

Will had a love for the ocean, surfing, and listening to Jimmy Buffett. His favorite shoes were flip flops or none.  In his words, “We should all be out getting some ‘Fresh Air Poisoning’ at the beach”. Many of his friends, which there were countless, could probably recite their own saying of Will’s that would bring a smile to your face. Will was unique in that he was unusually capable of just being a calm force of nature, someone without even knowing he was doing it, could calm you down with a few words or just his natural humor.  Wherever he was present, it was as if being in a Zen-like space, where it just felt good to be.

Will leaves behind to cherish his memory two children, Eric Grant and his companion Devon Mitrik of Thomaston, CT, Kathryn “Kay” Grant of Watertown, CT, his three sisters, Lisa Vennerstrom of FL, Julie Walker of AL, Martha Snowman, his stepfather David Snowman of FL and his grand-daughter, Raven Grant. He also leaves behind his niece, many cousins and life-long friends.

Arrangements:  All services for Will are currently postponed.  We will come together to celebrate Will’s life at a time when it is safe for all of us to gather.

Will’s family asks:

“that you spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. That is what Will would wish for you.”
