I was so very sorry to hear about Bud. Some of my happiest childhood memories are of the wonderful times we shared with the Evans family at Edwards Air Force Base, among other places. My dad and Bud flew jet fighters in Korea together, and continued their close friendship as test pilots at Edwards and for the next 40 years. As military kids, we grew up on bases, far away from our actual relatives. But Bud, Evie, Tracy and Kerry were like family to us (my parents, sister Diane, brother Jim and me), and we spent many holidays together and even vacationed in Hawaii together. And years later, when my father passed away, Bud and Nancy were right there for my mother and for us kids. I will never forget their kindness to us during that time, and the wonderful words Bud spoke at my father’s funeral.
My deepest condolences to Nancy, and to Tracy, Kerry and their families. I am thinking of you all, and of the hell of a “Beer Call” I’m sure my Dad arranged to welcome Bud to his new heavenly home. What flying they can do together now!
