Obituary of Richard F Green

Richard F. Green, 77, passed away September 3, 2020 at his residence. He was born

January 31,1943 in Newark, N.J.,the son of Stanley C Green and Rita (Birch) Green.

 

Richard graduated from Union High School, Class of 1961. Following graduation he attended

Rutgers College and received a BA degree in Economics in1965. He completed the ROTC program and was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force after graduation. He served three years six months in the Air Force and received the Bronze Star for meritorious service in the Vietnam War and separated as a Captain.

 

He attended the FBI Academy in Quantico,Va. and was appointed as Special Agent (SA) upon

his graduation. He served twenty eight years as a supervisory agent in different assignments including Assistant Legal Attache at the American Embassy London, England for three years. He served as liaison for the FBI with MI-5 and the countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden

and Finland. In 1988 he served as FBI liaison with five European countries for the Pan Am 103

investigation in Lockerbie,Scotland. He was a member of the International Association of Chief

Of Police (IACP).

 

After retiring from the FBI in 1997 he became Director of Security for a New York Corporation for six years. In 2004 the family retired to Melbourne, Florida. He worked for three years as a part time security officer at Florida Institute of Technology. As a member of Indialantic Rotary.

He believed in their motto “Service above Self”. Service to his community, country and the world became his passion. He served as a docent at Melbourne Beach Old Town Hall Museum. His love of history, art and antiques led him to become a collector of clocks, which he restored and opened Restoration Antiques in Eau Gallie Arts District.

 

He enjoyed sports both participating and viewing. Running was best-loved. In 1990 he completed the London Marathon He was an ardent NY Giants fan. His love for animals was shown in so many ways, volunteering at shelters, rescues, following his Mother's bighearted giving to charities to protect animals especially dogs. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Holland Green; sister, Judith Green Papo; brother, Stanley (Bud) Green; sons, Christian M Green; Connor H Green; spouse Jane Echeverria and 3 grandchildren.

 

Cremation services provided by Beach Funeral Homes. Memorial service October 5, 2020, Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
