Our family here in Portland, Oregon will never forget Fr Demetri. He visited our mother just before she passed away. He was also present at my niece's baptism along with Father James Retelas. He will be truly missed. Our deepest condolences to Presvetera Eleni and the boys. May his memory truly be eternal.

My heart breaks for the Tsigas family and my prayers are with all of you. Fr. Dimitri, or Mimi, as he was affectionately called by the "Dover kids" was someone I looked up to. He was the cool older kid. He was athletic, stylish, quirky, and the one who would boss me around in the altar. Above all, a role model. A role model not just growing up, but in his ministry, that I would occasionally follow via his church website. This was also verified when I met our current parish priest who was profoundly influence by Fr. D while growing up in Portland. Fr. Luke calls him the real deal! I found this picture of Mimi holding a candle at my baptism. He truly was with me from the beginning. May his memory be eternal and may he find peace in a place of light where there is no pain or suffering. "Well done, good and faithful servant."

I met Father Demetri as God led this Jewish boy from Brooklyn into the Greek Orthodox Church and into the living embrace of his mom and dad, Fr. Konstantine and Pres. Spyridoula Tsigas. At that time Demetri (Jimmy) was at the seminary in Brookline. He was deep, athletic and thoroughly committed to God. Through trials that would break Job, his faith stood strong. A true light has joined the ages of ages. Memory Eternal my dear beloved friend. Watch over your family and our country.

Our memories of Fr. Demetri are from the 4 years he served here at St. Gregory of Nyssa in the eastern part of San Diego, CA. He baptized our godson Michael Angeles and performed weddings and other sacraments for our relatives and other parishioners. Both he and Pres. Eleni were always such great ambassadors of the faith and good examples of hospitality and warmth. We shall miss hearing about him and the family. May his memory truly be eternal.
