Obituary of Dalton Michael Lowing

Mr. Dalton M. Lowing, age 25, of Satellite Beach, FL passed away following a motorcycle accident on July 28, 2021, in Norfolk, VA where he was stationed.  A fourth-generation Sailor, Dalton was serving as a Mass Communications Specialist 2nd Class, on active duty in the United States Navy on board the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78).  Dalton was born on February 24, 1996, son of Trevor Lowing and Margaret “Janie” (Lowing) Oathout, Chief Legalman USN (ret.).  He graduated from Satellite High School’s Academy of Fine Arts (SAFA) in 2014 where he earned a certificate in theatre, with a focus in show production, and was a member of the marching band.  He worked in hospitality until he joined the Navy in June of 2018, weeks before his daughter, Vena, was born.  He was known for his big smile, eclectic personality and drive that pushed himself and others to be the best version of themselves.  Dalton was passionate about spending time with his daughter, riding his motorcycle, reading, listening to and playing music, taking photos, writing stories, and hanging out at the beach with friends.

Dalton was preceded in death by his grandfathers Michael Oathout, Thomas Lowing, and Tamrat Negatu. Survivors include his daughter Vena Monet Lowing and his soulmate Chloe Lowing; mother, Margaret Oathout; father, Trevor Lowing and stepmom, Mignote Tamrat; siblings, Mitchell, Callum “CJ”, Aman, and Herron Lowing; grandmothers, Darlene Oathout, Shirley Lowing, and Sihin Woldehanna; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins across the U.S.
